Warner Robins man sentenced to 18 years in prison in stolen golf cart, drug case
The Perry Police Department opened an investigation in December 2024 after four golf carts were reported stolen from Mike's Golf Carts

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Warner Robins man pleaded guilty to theft and was sentenced to 18 years in prison, according to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office.
51-old Kerry Mikeal Holt Jr. pleaded guilty in the Superior Court of Houston County just before his scheduled trial was set to begin June 8, 2026, to theft by receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Holt was sentenced to 18 years to serve in prison. At the time of sentencing, Holt had four prior felony convictions.
According to the DA’s office, the Perry Police Department opened an investigation in December 2024 after four golf carts were reported stolen from Mike’s Golf Carts, located at 1608 Sam Nunn Blvd. in Perry.
The DA’s office states that on the night of December 18, 2024, Perry officers made contact with a suspect who was actively driving one of the golf carts and towing a second.
The driver, Edward Hargreaves, led officers on a chase through the streets of Perry before being taken into custody, causing damage to police vehicles and neighbors’ fences.
Hargreaves pleaded guilty to the charges in April 2025 and was sentenced to 30 years, with the first 15 years to serve in prison.
Investigators also learned that Hargreaves had sold the third and fourth golf carts for well below market value — a few hundred dollars compared to valuations exceeding $5,000 — with Kerry Holt being one of the purchasers.
According to the news release, investigators set up surveillance at Holt’s residence in Warner Robins and observed the stolen golf cart in the backyard, leading investigators to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
Perry Police Department officers, with assistance from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, executed the search warrant December 19, 2024.
During the search, Holt was found at the residence along with numerous narcotics packaged for sale and a firearm.
Senior Assistant District Attorney Mike Smith released the following statement:
“The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the dedication of the Perry Police Department, as well as the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, for its efforts in working together to bring down a few career thieves that have harassed our community for several years. We would like to especially highlight Investigator Aaron Conner’s endeavors in this successful prosecution.”
District Attorney Eric Edwards released the following statement:
“Career criminals rarely limit themselves to a single type of offense. In this case, a convicted felon knowingly purchased stolen property for a fraction of its value, only for investigators to discover that he was also engaged in narcotics distribution and unlawfully possessing a firearm. These crimes are all interconnected and contribute to the erosion of safety and quality of life in our neighborhoods. One of the clearest indicators that property has been stolen is when it is offered for sale at a price no reasonable person would believe to be legitimate. Purchasing obviously stolen goods does not make someone a bargain hunter—it makes them part of the criminal enterprise that incentivizes thieves to continue victimizing honest businesses and citizens. I am grateful for the outstanding work of the Perry Police Department, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, and for the prosecution of this case by Senior Assistant District Attorney Mike Smith. This sentence reflects our office’s continued commitment to holding repeat offenders accountable and ensuring that those who choose to traffic in stolen property, illegal narcotics, and firearms face serious consequences for their actions.”
