Warner Robins man sentenced to 10 years for armed robbery, domestic violence
Avery Cole Turner entered his plea September 11 in Houston County Superior Court.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 20-year-old Warner Robins man was sentenced to 10 years in prison without parole followed by five years of probation after pleading guilty to armed robbery, false imprisonment and battery-family violence, according to the Houston County District Attorney.
Avery Cole Turner entered his plea September 11 in Houston County Superior Court.
Turner’s charges stem from two separate cases, including an armed robbery at 478 Vape and Smoke shop on Booth Road on August 5. According to prosecutors, Turner entered the store wearing a red hoodie, black pants, gloves and a face covering, showed a handgun and demanded money. The clerk told investigators she recognized the suspect as a regular customer who had previously tried to sell her puppies, despite his attempt to disguise his appearance.
Turner was later identified after a domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend. Police said Turner grabbed the woman during an argument and prevented her from leaving before she kicked him and escaped. She later told officers Turner admitted to the vape shop robbery and returned home with $600 in cash.
Investigators said Turner hid the clothing he wore during the robbery in the woods near the Walmart on Booth Road, where officers later recovered the items. When Turner was booked into the Houston County Jail, he provided the same phone number he had once given the vape shop clerk when he tried to sell her puppies, according to authorities.
District Attorney Eric Edwards released the following statement:
“I am especially grateful that the victim of family violence in this case had the courage to call law enforcement. Her willingness to speak up not only protected herself but also helped bring to light an armed robbery that otherwise might have gone unsolved. Often, victims of family violence feel silenced or trapped—this case is a reminder of the importance of making that call. I want to thank the Warner Robins Police Department, particularly Detective Robert Broussard, for their outstanding work in investigating and connecting the dots between these cases. Their efforts, along with the prosecution by Assistant District Attorney Justin Duane, ensured that Avery Turner was held accountable and will spend the next decade in prison. Our office will continue to stand with survivors, pursue justice for victims, and protect the people of Houston County.”
