WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins hosted its September Food Truck Roundup at Perkins Field Thursday night and the theme was Go Green.

A ton of food trucks were of course on site as families enjoyed music and other fun things.

According to Warner Robins in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters, this month’s theme, “Go Green Night,” encourages everyone to show their support for mentoring by wearing green in honor of the incredible mentors in the community.

Michele Curry-Mitchell, Mentor Relationship Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Heart of Georgia says they need more mentors especially men.

“We have a lot of kids out here that could use some positive role models in their life so that they can continue to grow as they get older by being mentored and we have a high success rate of the kids that are being mentored. They’re graduating out of high school, they’re going off to college, military,” said Curry-Mitchell. “They’re just doing amazing.”

“We have a lot of kids that’s waiting. So once we get the mentors all approved, then we’ll match that kid and we try to match that Big with that Little, based on background, the things they like, because we also interview the kids too,” said Curry-Mitchell. “So if it’s a guy that likes football and likes sports we are going to find him a mentor that enjoys sports as well as that kid does.”
