Warner Robins hosts ribbon cutting for new sports complex
"Wow, we didn't envision this."
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms, city and county leaders and residents gathered for a special ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday morning to celebrate the opening of a new sports complex.
According to Mayor Toms, the sports complex has taken a few years to complete, but the wait was worth it. He says the new facility will bring more people to the area.
“Our number one goal was to provide sports and recreation activities,” Toms said. But with a new facility, Toms says it also adds an economic impact—an impact that he says the city has never had.
The complex is accessible for the community and will host state tournaments. The facility includes four basketball courts, eight volleyball courts and more.
Former Northside High School football coach Conrad Nix says it’s good for the city and Houston County.
“Everybody is going to use it,” he said.
