Warner Robins Girl Featured In National Campaign Ad for “Let’s Move”

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)-The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has chosen a Shirley Hills Elementary student to be the face of a billboard aimed at promoting kids health. The nonprofit group said it is trying to reinvigorate the “Let’s Move”, anti-obesity campaign developed by First Lady Michelle Obama. On August 1st, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine launched a search for models to pose in its ad that says, “Let’s move cheese out of my school lunch.”

Laurie Cook saw the advertisement and decided to submit a picture of her daughter, Sarah. Sarah was later picked, and now her picture is located on a billboard in the Union Station Metro stop near the U.S Senate in Washington, D.C. Sarah said her favorite foods are sandwiches, apples, oranges, and strawberries.

“I know that school lunches are healthier than they look; they do try to put some things in there that the kids are not generally knowledgeable about. But, I would like to see it be even healthier. I would like to see some vegetarian options,” said Laurie Cook.

Laurie said she would like to see veggie burgers, black bean burgers, and brown rice as an option for school lunches.
