Warner Robins Fireworks Show Finally Blasts Off
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – They say the third time is a charm! After two failed attempts to get the Independence Day Fireworks Celebration off the ground, Friday’s attempt was a success.
41NBC set up right next to the soccer fields on Cohen Walker Drive, just yards away from the launch zone.
Families lined the area with their chairs to get a glimpse of the show, which was scheduled to start just after the Little League Southeastern Region Baseball Championship.
At about 9:15, the fireworks finally lit up the night sky. We caught up with a happy kid who was watching and asked her what she thought about the last two shows being postponed.
“I told my mom and dad that I really wanted to see them (fireworks),” Summer Stewart said.
One boy, 6-year-old Bryson Tompkins, was afraid to speak to us at first, but his dad, Joe, talked him into it.
“We were actually in Chattanooga when 4th of July was here,” Joe said. “And what happened?” he asked Bryson.
“It canceled because it was only raining a tad,” Bryson said.
“All the rain and everything,” Joe said, with a smile. “I think pretty much everywhere had canceled fireworks, so he was excited to get a chance to see them.”
Friday’s show went along to music from the Air Force Reserve Band. Of course, the original show back on July 3 was supposed to honor the band, but the very next day, the unit was disbanded and its members were sent to different parts of the country.
