Warner Robins family expects hundreds for annual Thanksgiving dinner

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Houston County schools are contributing produce grown at the schools to an annual Thanksgiving dinner that feeds hundreds.

Every year, Felix King Jr. and his family throw the “King Family Thanksgiving.” It’s designed to reduce hunger in the city of Warner Robins. As the event has grown, the dinner has needed more space so this year the event will be held in the Middle Georgia Conference Center.

Vans will be available to take people to the dinner or give food to the elderly who can’t make it out.

Several non-profit organizations, businesses, and schools will have volunteers at the dinner making sure no one goes home hungry.

At Northside High School and Westside Elementary School, produce is grown in gardens provided by grants. The gardens are used to grow fruit and vegetables at each school campus without soil, pesticides, or even light.

A news release says the gardens are capable of producing enough fresh fruit and vegetables, for not only the cafeteria, but to give to the less fortunate within the community at no cost.

The dinner is Thursday, November 26 at 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Middle Georgia Conference Center at 706 N. Houston Road.
