WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Warner Robins Mayor LaRhonda Patrick and a Democratic state House candidate criticized President Donald Trump and Georgia Republicans over the rising cost of living ahead of Trump’s campaign rally in Perry.

The group held a news conference in Warner Robins on Friday.

Patrick says the cost of everyday necessities is putting pressure on working families.

“The cost of gas, groceries and healthcare is all too expensive for families to bear,” she said. “And let’s be clear: these high costs are a policy choice. That is what happens when those in our government do not prioritize working families.”

Renita Duncan, who’s running against incumbent Republican Bethany Ballard in the District 147 race, says she’ll represent families who are struggling to keep up with rising expenses.

“People are doing everything right, but still falling behind,” she said. “That’s why I’m running, because District 147 deserves somebody that actually feels what every family feels, and I’ll fight to fix it.”

Democratic leaders also encouraged voters to cast their ballots early in person before early voting ends October 30.

“We’re counting on you at the polls this year,” she said. “We have a great opportunity to make a great change and a great impact for the great people of our dear state. And without your voice, we cannot make it happen.”
