Warner Robins Cub Scouts Race Down The Track in Cubmobiles

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Boys will be boys–and that’s certainly what the  Cub Scouts did at the Cubmobile Races Saturday morning just outside of Warner Robins High School.

Put on by the Boy Scouts of America, the event invited Cub Scouts ages 1st through 5th grade from across the area to come race their Cubmobiles.

“It’s fun to watch the boys run around, laughing, screaming, doing what boys do,” said Laura Mixon, who helped plan and faciliate the event.

These carts carried scouts down the track as they raced each other to the finish.

Diana Kaszuba, who along with Mixon helped plan and facilitate the event, say it’s all about getting the boys outside and active in their communities.

“This is for the boys, all the local Cub Scouts in the area–just to get them out here to have fun, get dirty, and you know, be boys for the weekend and get off the computers and the xboxes for a little bit,” said Diana Kaszuba.

And the boys couldn’t have loved it more.

“What is your favorite part about racing? … It’s when you drive it–you get this spark in your brain that you like it,” said Alex Washington, a racer.

“Just having fun and getting to go down the track at like 10 miles per hour,” said Ben Lilley, another racer.

“You get to fix races and you get to fix the cubmobiles that when something breaks, you get to fix it, and if they crash, you get to set them back up and just make them run, and it’s actually really cool,” said Aiden Kaszuba, a racer and staff member.

Very cool indeed–from the construction of these cubmobiles to the competition racing them down the track, these Cub Scouts truly enjoyed what it means to be a boy–and had fun doing it.
