Warner Robins Council to Buy Land for Sports Complex
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins City Council plans to buy land in the northwest section of town and build a sports complex there in the future.
In a special-called meeting this afternoon, Councilman Mike Davis laid out the details of the plan.
Council unanimously supported the item and will pay the land owner $850,000 for nearly 65 acres of property at the corner of North Houston and Elberta Roads.
Council hopes by adding the sports complex with new ballparks, it will bring new life to that part of town.
“Still a lot of work to be done,” says Davis. “We’re not gonna be playing ball on it in March, but we’re gonna build something that the community can be proud of that hopefully will bring some revenue to the community.”
Davis says to complete the project, the city will use SPLOST funds and previously set aside money..
