Warner Robins City Council Votes to Bring Sunday Alcohol Sales to November Ballot

Soon, Warner Robins residents will be the ones to decide if they’re going to allow Sunday alcohol sales in their city.

Tonight, city council unanimously voted to put the hotly debated issue on the November ballot. If you vote in favor of Sunday sales, businesses that make more than 50% of their profits from food, or from renting rooms overnight, will be allowed to sell alcohol on Sundays.

Even though all six members agreed to let voters have the final say, council member Tom Simms says he believes Sunday sales will not best serve the public.

“Never have I ever agreed with that on Sundays, but that’s just my opinion, but it’s enevitable that we be flexible somewhat because we are already taking care of the problems that come with one more day of alcohol sales. I.E. road traffic, DUI’s, and it’s costing the citizens money, and we’re not getting any income back from that.”

Simms says even though he doesn’t agree with the law, he wants the citizens of Warner Robins to have a voice in the decision.
