Warner Robins City Council Discusses SPLOST Project Delays

Warner Robins City Council members met today to discuss the status of the 2006 special purpose sales tax, which was implemented to help fund certain city projects.

Council members said they would like to spread out the $4 million SPLOST fund so they can start on other projects, but right now the the city has to focus on finishing water treatment and sewer repairs, and both projects are taking longer than anticipated.

“It’s been delayed, but because we’ve been concentrating on roadway improvements, and every roadway improvement requires a utility relocation,” Utility Director Marianne Golmitz said. “We’ve been doing all of that in-house. And that takes lots and lots of time and effort so it’s probably a manpower issue more than it is anything else.”

Golmitz says she hopes to see the projects completed within the next two years so that the funds can be used for other projects in Warner Robins.
