Warner Robins church giving away free backpacks and school supplies

Truth in the Word Ministries is located at 401H Belmont Drive, Warner Robins. The giveaway is Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGTT) – “You know, families sometimes struggle during times as this, so whatever we can do to supplement the family and you know help parents lessen the burden a little bit.” Said, Dr. Aaron Hamilton the Pastor of Truth in the Word Ministries and Host of Back to School Backpack Giveaway.

Shaheedah Buckley, a member of Truth in the Word Ministries in Warner Robins, and recipient of the backpack giveaway in past years, said the giveaway is a big relief for families.

“It’s less stressful because as a single parent sometimes its hard to provide for your kids especially when it comes back to school when you have to get all these supplies because as a kid I don’t remember my parents having to buy as many supplies as they have to get now,” said Buckley.

According to the National Retail Federation, families with students will spend an average of $890 on school supplies this school year.

“It’s a lot of supplies, so it helps that there’s a church like Truth in the Word Ministries who provide a whole bunch of items for you and it less stressful on the parent,” said Buckley.

The church’s Pastor, Apostle Dr. Aaron Hamilton said, the church has about 75 backpacks filled with items essential to each grade level ready to hand out.

He said, the bags are free, but it’s on a first come, first serve bases.

The backpack giveaway is Saturday from 10 a.m. to Noon.

Pastor Hamilton said, there will be free food, and a raffle to win free Android tablets.

The church is located at 401H Belmont Drive in Warner Robins.
