Voters head to the polls in Georgia State Senate District 18 Race
Voters across parts of Middle Georgia are casting their ballots today in a closely watched race for the Georgia State Senate District 18 seat

BIBB COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Democrat Lemario Brown and Republican Steven McNeel are facing off in the special election. The district includes voters in Bibb, Monroe, Peach, Houston and Crawford counties.
Polls opened early this morning and will close at 7 p.m. Voters must cast their ballot in the county where they are registered.
Under Georgia law, anyone voting in person is required to present an approved form of photo identification.
State election officials encourage voters to double-check their polling location before heading out. Information on Election Day precincts, early voting locations and sample ballots is available through the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.
We spoke with one voter outside the polls who said he makes it a priority to participate in every election.
“I do my best to always vote, because elections matter,” said Walt Miller. “In this particular election, you have one candidate who wants to keep voter ID required in Georgia, which I really like. The other candidate seems to want to go a different way.”
Voters who are in line by 7 p.m. will still be allowed to cast their ballot. Election officials say results will begin coming in shortly after polls close.
