Volunteers Rebuild Six Macon Homes in Three Weeks
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Wednesday’s rain did not stop hundreds of volunteers from rolling up their sleeves and fixing up some homes in Macon.
The Passport Youth Missions team partnered with Rebuilding Macon to rehabilitate six homes over the past three weeks. Students in 7th to 12th grades spent part of their summer scrapping, painting, and cleaning up houses for homeowners, like Margaret Walker.
Walker says she is grateful for their help.
“This is something that needed to be done for years but I just hadn’t been able to afford it. I’m so glad, thankful that they came by,” Walker said.
Zeke Stephenson is the director of the group. He says it is important for the volunteers to give back to the community.
“We really want to put action to our faith. We’re the hands and feet of Christ to this world, so coming out here and actually doing hands on mission is very important,” Stephenson said.
Rebuilding Macon helps low-income homeowners over 60 rehabilitate their homes so they can have a warm, safe, and dry living space.
