Visit Milledgeville to host 21st annual Deep Roots Festival
The Deep Roots Festival will also have a steak cookoff, as well as a competition for best peach dessert and bloody mary.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Visit Milledgeville is hosting the 21st annual Deep Roots Festival.
The event will be October 19 in Downtown Milledgeville. Entry to the festival area is free and open to the community. The market will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and music will go from 10 a.m. until about 11 p.m.
Milledgeville Councilman District 4, Walter Reynolds, says there will be an arts and craft section which showcases local vendors, as well as downtown merchants.
Reynolds says there will also be a KidZone located between Milledgeville City Hall and Mary Vinson Memorial Library. The KidZone will feature inflatables, rock climbing walls, velcro walls, and zip lines. Unlimited KidZone passes must be purchased for activities.
- Kids 6 and under: $10
- Kids 7 and up: $15
There will also be the Old Capital Car Club’s Open Car Show which features over 100 cars. The best cars will receive awards at 3 p.m.
Lead singer and founder of DireWolf, Alex Stone, says there will also be live music for attendees. Stone says he is excited to perform this year and share his music with Middle Georgia.
There will be food trucks for attendees and the downtown area will also be open. There will be more than 18 restaurants to visit.
The Deep Roots Festival will also have a steak cookoff, as well as a competition for best peach dessert and bloody mary. There will be over $3,000 in cash prizes for the winners.
