Video Shows Lowe Denied Drinking, Racing

ATLANTA, GA – Braves pitcher Derek Lowe argued with officers who pulled him over on speeding and DUI charges, repeatedly saying he was not drinking or racing.

Police video of the April 28 arrest shows Lowe told the officers “I’ll be as honest as you want me to be: I wasn’t racing.” The lengthy video was obtained on Monday by The Associated Press from the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

Lowe was charged with DUI and reckless driving after he declined a breath test. The charges were dismissed in May. The 37-year-old apologized for the attention following the arrest.

He did not immediately identify himself to officers as a Braves pitcher, later saying in the video that “once you say you play baseball you are already guilty.”
