Vad Lee Emerging As Georgia Tech’s Top Quarterback

ATLANTA (AP) – Vad Lee wasn’t a typical Duke recruit.

Lee was more like one of the guys. He was a local Durham, N.C., kid who liked to spend time at Duke with former Hillside High teammates.

Lee became close with Duke coach David Cutcliffe. The friendship survived when Lee signed with Georgia Tech after being named The Associated Press North Carolina high school player of the year in 2010.

The redshirt freshman quarterback likely will play more than senior Tevin Washington in Saturday’s important Atlantic Coast Conference game against Duke.

Cutcliffe says he never doubted Lee would be successful at Georgia Tech. Lee says he knew Cutcliffe would win at Duke – but not so soon. He’s surprised the coach already has the Blue Devils headed to a bowl game.
