USA Today ranks Cherry Blossom Festival among the best

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon’s Annual Cherry Blossom Festival is ranked among the best across the southeast.
that’s according to USA Today Travel Guide.

The Cherry Blossom Festival is now listed as one of the top ten cultural events.

For more than 30 years, the festival has played host to hundreds of thousands of people. Last year nearly 200,000 people attended.

Jake Ferro has served as the festival’s President and CEO for two years.

Ferro says he’s proud the annual event made the list, which also includes the Kentucky Derby, Spoleto Festival in Charleston, S.C. and the Memphis in May festival in Tennessee.

“We’re not sure if we’re number one or number ten, but to be in the top 10, in the southeast by USA Today is just phenomenal,” says Ferro. “We’re just tickled pink.”

Festival organizers host fundraisers for the annual event throughout the year. The next one is the “Battle of the Marching Bands.” It is scheduled for Sunday, 3 p.m., at Mercer University’s Henderson Stadium.
