UPDATE: Woman Charged for Beating Three Year Old Son

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon woman has been charged with the death of her 3-year-old son.

Jameshia Reid made her first appearance in front of a judge at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center Courthouse on Thursday.

According to the Macon Police incident report, Reid called 911 and said her son had passed out after possibly drinking nail polish remover. The responding officer wrote in that same report, they didn’t smell anything around the child.

41NBC tried speaking with Reid’s girlfriend; she didn’t want to be interviewed. She did say that Reid and her family were new to the area.

Neighbors say Reid and her family moved into the home about a week ago.

The Macon Police Department sent a release saying after the child was carried to the Medical Center of Central Georgia, doctors discovered injuries to his head and body.

Carol Vasser has lived in the neighborhood for five years. She says she has never seen so many police cars at one time by her home.

“We didn’t know, we don’t know them, everybody is like close knit around here, we know everybody and basically know what’s going on so its not like something like that to happen, it’s a kid friendly neighborhood,” Vasser said.

She says her son is the one who told her the ambulance was outside and that something was going on.

Bibb County coroner Leon Jones spoke with 41NBC and said when he told Reid her son had died she didn’t say a word and was unresponsive.

Stay with 41NBC for the very latest on this developing story.
