UPDATE: Winship Street ‘Candy Lady’ won’t sell candy anymore

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Winship Street ‘Candy Lady’ will not sell candy from her home anymore.

After three young men attacked her husband Sunday night, Mrs. Kelso tells 41NBC she’s scared she’s in harm’s way.

She says she’s been selling the candy for a couple of months. She wanted to do something nice for the neighborhood children so they didn’t have to cross busy intersections when they wanted something sweet, but that’s about to change.

Mrs. Kelso says her husband, William Kelso, invited three men who appeared to be 20-years-old into their home because he thought they wanted to buy candy. Mr. Kelso was trying to find Laffy Taffy for the men and when he looked up, there was a gun in his face. Mr. Kelso told his wife he has never seen the men before.

Mrs. Kelso says the suspects went into different rooms looking for money. She says they took cash, jewelry, a cell phone, and a set of keys.

Mrs. Kelso tells 41NBC aside from a few stitches to his head, her husband is fine.
