UPDATE: Two Wilkinson County Teachers Charged with Child Molestation

IRWINTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Wilkinson County high school teachers are arrested and charged with child molestation.

The Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 29-year-old Cornelius Dante Jones (pictured left) and 43-year-old Sgt. Rodney Hunter (right). Both men worked at Wilkinson County High School. Jones was a math teacher and Hunter taught in the school’s Air Force JROTC program.

The sheriff’s office started investigating Jones on Saturday. School security cameras caught Jones and the 15-year-old female student hugging, kissing, and performing oral sodomy.

Sheriff Richard Chatman says the relationship was consensual, but there is a fine line between students and teachers and Jones crossed it.

“A lot of students, I think, look for that friendship in teachers and that’s good to have that, but there’s a line that has to be drawn, boundaries that have to be set,” Chatman said.

The sheriff’s office says both incidents are related and remain under investigation.

Jones was arrested on Monday and charged with child molestation, sexual assault, aggravated child molestation, and aggravated sodomy. He was denied bond.

Hunter was arrested Tuesday and charged with child molestation. Both men are currently being held in the Wilkinson County jail.
