UPDATE: Two Arrested in Connection with Shooting Death of Macon Teen

Jedarrius MeadowsJrMACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Bibb County investigators have arrested two Macon teens in connection with the fatal shooting of another Macon teen Saturday night.

With the help of Bibb County Board of Education Police and the Middle Georgia Regional Fugitive Task Force, investigators arrested and charges 17-year-old Jedarrius Treonta Meadows, Jr. (pictured left) He was arrested at a local high school around 8:30 Monday morning.

A second suspect, 15-year-old Roland R. Watson was arrested at his home early Monday as well. Both teens are charged with murder in connection with the death of 16-year-old Damian Clayton.

Clayton was found Saturday on the Macon Little League Baseball Field around 7:45 in the evening. This incident marked Macon’s first homicide of the year. It’s still unclear what the motive was surrounding this shooting.

Bibb County Sheriff David Davis released the following statement in response to the arrests: “I commend the Sheriff’s Office Investigators who worked tirelessly through the weekend to identify those responsible for this tragic crime. One of the last homicides in 2013 and the first homicide in 2014 involved youth on youth crime. There are many good people doing many good things in our community. These senseless acts of violence should not deter those who want to make a positive difference in trying to make our community one in which our youth are discouraged from taking up arms against one another.”

The investigation is still on-going. Anyone with information is asked to call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME, or the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at (478) 751-7500.
