UPDATE: Twiggs County Searching for Escaped Inmate

troy criswellJEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Twiggs County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Billy Boney says escaped inmate, Troy Criswell was spotted by residents Monday night around 6 o’clock on Highway 129.

Previous Story: The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office is searching for an inmate who escaped from jail early Sunday morning.

According to a news release from the sherrif’s office, the prisoner 45-year-old Troy Havis Criswell is 5’11 and 145 lbs. He was last seen around 11 p.m. Saturday when deputies were conducting a block count in the jail.

The news release says the inmate pulled the shower head from the wall and made a hole large enough for him to get through, then scaled the fence and escaped.

Criswell was in jail and awaiting trial for the following charges: possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, stalking, terroristic threaters, criminal trespass, and loitering. His last known address is 1134 Columbus Street, Macon.

The sheriff’s office says they don’t know if he is armed, but he should be considered dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office at 478-945-3357.
