UPDATE: Teen Dies After Running Red Light
BONAIRE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A teen has died after running a red light Monday evening.
According to Houston County Coroner Danny Galpin, 17-year-old Kyle Hillock was struck broadside by a semi-truck at the intersection of Highway 96 and Thompson Mill Road. Galpin says the incident happened around 6:30P.M.
Update- The Houston County Sheriff’s Office was back on the scene of a deadly accident that killed a Bonaire teen late Monday night. 17-year-old Kyle Hillock was on his way to a class ring ceremony Monday night when his car was hit by a tractor trailer. According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 6:30pm at the intersection of Highway 96 and Thompson Mill Road.
Witnesses told the sheriff’s office that Hillock ran a red light at the intersection. 33-year-old John Ismel was driving the tractor trailer that hit Hillock. Balloons were placed at the intersection in Hillock’s memory. The Houston County Sheriff’s Office are using forensic mapping to help with the investigation.
“What we do is go back and use that forensic mapping, so we can draw a scale diagram of the crash and use that to work the reconstruction off of to determine the speed, other factors that may have caused the crash, all that hinges on a scale diagram,” said Lt. Mike Stokes.
No one has been charged in this case, and the investigation is on-going. Hillock was a junior at Veterans High School.
