UPDATE: Teen charged with murder in East Macon shooting
Ridgeway was shot around 4:15 p.m. on Tredway Drive next to a vacant building at 1900 Shurling Drive. He and his girlfriend parked their car in the parking lot next to the vacant building to talk to three men. “Mr. Ridgeway got out of the vehicle, spoke to them, during the conversation it became heated,” said Lt. Sean DeFoe with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. “The three men began to argue with Mr. Ridgeway, one of them displayed a gun and shot him in the chest.”
Ridgeway was taken to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at 10:04 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.
DeFoe tells 41NBC, Ridgeway knew the man who shot him, and Jones added, it was a domestic issue. Bibb County deputies canvassed the Shurling Drive and Tredway Drive neighborhood looking for the three men involved in the shooting. Investigators got a tip that Smith argued with Ridgeway before the shooting him.
Smith was picked up at his home and brought in for questioning Friday night, according to Bibb County Sheriff office news release. He is charged as an adult but is jailed at the Regional Youth Detention Center.
This is the second homicide of the year and the second homicide in one week.
