UPDATE: Suspect in Callie Goolsby’s death takes own life after standoff with law enforcement

This is still an ongoing investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE (8/22/2024): The suspect in the death of Callie Brooke Goolsby in Crawford County was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Sheriff Lewis Walker.

On August 16, an agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation secured warrants for the suspect, 52-year-old Timothy Lamar Crow, for the death of Goolsby.

The warrants were for felony murder, malice murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault and possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes.

On August 21, the U.S. Marshals were following leads that led them to Rockdale County where they ended up in a standoff with Crow.

Crow was located and found deceased with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

This is still an ongoing investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE (8/12/24): Crawford County Sheriff Lewis Walker identified the person found dead in Crawford County last week as 35-year-old Callie Brooke Goolsby.

“This is still an ongoing investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office,” a Facebook post stated. “Further information will be provided later.”


ORIGINAL STORY (8/9/24):

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  A Crawford County Roads Department employee found a woman’s body on the side of Smith Chapel Road on Thursday, according to Sheriff Lewis Walker.

The body was found around 7:58 a.m.

The woman is believed to be in her mid-30s. Deputy Coroner Randall Pate pronounced her dead on the scene.

Sheriff Walker says the body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The woman has been identified, but her name has not yet been released.
