UPDATE: One Suspect Caught, Another Sought in Dodge County Murder
EASTMAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One suspect is in custody and another is at large in after a body found near Cook Road in Dodge County.
According to Dodge County Coroner Joe Smith, the GBI is investigating the case as an apparent homicide and the body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for positive identification.
Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the GBI’s Eastman Office Todd Lowery said investigators were on the scene late Monday night working on the case. Bleckley County authorities are investigating the murder because the crime happened in their jurisdiction, Lowery said. There is a suspect in custody and another suspect is being sought.
This is the third suspicious death in Dodge County in less than a month. In May, Greg Giddens was found dead in his apartment at the corner of Page Street and Sixth Avenue. A few weeks later, local painter Jimmy Gay, was found dead behind a dumpster on Harry Hargrove Road.
According to Lowery, the Giddens and Gay cases are connected and one suspect is in custody. Officials are stills searching for Nathaniel Cummings wanted for murder and armed robbery in both cases.
