UPDATE: Missing elderly man safely found

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County sheriff’s investigators say 89-year-old Hugh Smisson was found safe and sound. 

A news release says Smisson returned home a little after 4 p.m. on Saturday. He was uninjured and didn’t need any medical attention. He was reunited with family members.

Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a missing Macon man.

Hugh Smisson has been missing since July 31. He was last seen in the 1100 block of St. Andrews Drive around 10 p.m., according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

“We were just notified there was a hit on his credit card in Hazelhurst, and we believe he is headed to Sea Island,” said Bibb County Sheriff’s deputy Clay Williams.

Smisson is 89-years-old and is five feet 10 inches tall and weighs around 190 pounds.

Investigators believe he is driving a silver 2010 Lincoln MKX SUV with license plate number CAN9675 and traveling on Highway 341.
