The man who escaped police custody last week is now in custody, according to Telfair County Sheriff Sim Davidson.

UPDATE (2/28) – The man who escaped police custody last week is now in custody, according to Telfair County Sheriff Sim Davidson.

“I am pleased to share that Mr. Clark was located in McRae-Helena this evening and was promptly taken into custody without incident and then transported to the Telfair County Detention Center,” Davidson wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

MCRAE-HELENA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The McRae-Helana Police Department, with the help of the Telfair County Sheriff’s Office, is looking for a man they escaped custody on Friday, February 23.

According to a Facebook post by Sheriff Sim Davidson, Niculas Clark was taken to the detention center on misdemeanor theft charges. Sheriff Davidson says as the officer was escorting Clark into the jail, Clark ran toward the main gate and escaped as it was closing.

According to Sheriff Davidson, Clark was seen on Monday in the McRae-Helena area. The Facebook post says law enforcement is looking for him there now, and that Clark is not in the Milan area at this time.
