UPDATE: Macon to host Juneteenth Celebration

The Juneteenth Freedom Festival will have events from June 7 through June 16. 

UPDATE (6/14/24): The Fathers and Family Juneteenth Celebration, originally scheduled for Tattnall Square Park on Sunday, has been relocated to the Douglass Theatre at 355 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

The free event will be held from 5 to 9 p.m.

A variety of Juneteenth speakers, local performers and acknowledgement of fathers will be featured, culminating with a 7:30 pm Afro-Latin Jazz concert by Grammy Award-winning saxophonist David Sanchez and legendary drummer Lil’ John Roberts.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The City of Macon is preparing for the 32nd Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival.

The Juneteenth Freedom Festival will have events from June 7 through June 16. The Freedom Festival will take place on June 15 and June 16.

Sabir Muhammad, event organizer, says the festival will have historical exhibitions, live music, spoken word, and vendors.

The Juneteenth Freedom Festival will be at Tattnall Square Park. Events will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
