UPDATE: Macon man in custody for January murder

49-year-old Derrick Berry of Macon was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

UPDATE (3/8) – 49-year-old Derrick Berry of Macon was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. He was wanted in Bibb County in connection with the death of 44-year-old Tavores Pearson on January 16, 2024.

Berry was arrested by the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Kennesaw, Georgia on March 7, then transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center the next day.

Berry faces a charge of Murder, and does not have a bond.

UPDATE: Deputies say a man who was shot on Houston Avenue Monday night has died.

A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release identified the man as 44-year-old Tavores Maurice Pearson of Macon.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man is in critical condition after a shooting at a strip mall on Monday night in Macon.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, it happened within the 3200 block of Houston Avenue just before 9:30 p.m.

Deputies responded to the scene and found a 44-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
