UPDATE: Homeless woman identified after hit-and-run on Pio Nono Avenue, investigation underway

Deputies responded to a call of a person down in the roadway of Pio Nono Avenue near the Rose’s Shopping Center. The fatal incident happened around 10:25 p.m. on December 18.

(UPDATE:12/19/2024 at 4:11 p.m.) The woman who died during a hit-and run on Pio Nono Avenue on Wednesday has been identified, according to Coroner Leon Jones.

The woman has been identified as 30-year-old Darralynn Jones.

Coroner Leon Jones says Darralynn Jones was homeless and had been hit by a vehicle previously.

According to the Coroner’s Office, no next of kin can be located.  Jones’ body will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab, so that an autopsy can be performed.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A woman is dead after a hit-and-run on on Pio Nono Avenue on Wednesday night, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a call of a person down in the roadway of Pio Nono Avenue near the Rose’s Shopping Center. The fatal incident happened around 10:25 p.m. on December 18.

Upon arrival, deputies found a female pedestrian that was struck and killed by an unknown vehicle.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said the victim was wearing blue jeans, a gray hoodie, and tie-dye crocs. She has a star tattoo located on her left wrist. The pedestrian has not been identified.

Once the victim has been identified, she will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab and an autopsy will be performed.
