UPDATE: Burglary suspect accused of crime spree before barricading himself at Academy in Macon

Fletcher faces charges of seven counts of aggravated assault, four counts of possession of firearm during commission of a felony, and four counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon, felony second degree burglary, theft by receiving stolen property, motor vehicle carjacking, and armed robbery.

(UPDATE: 12/9/2024 at 2:59 p.m.) The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office released new information connecting Frank Fletcher Jr. to a crime spree in Macon before the burglary at Academy.

According to an updated press release, Macon Bibb E-911 Center received a call at approximately 8:10 p.m. in reference to a person with a gun, brandishing the firearm before firing it in the air. The individual was described as a male wearing blue sweats. There were reports of the suspect fleeing the area towards Third Street turning onto Mulberry Street.

At 8:20 p.m. dispatch received a call in reference to shots fired in the Downtown area near the intersection of Mulberry and Second Street. Witnesses described the suspect as a male wearing all blue, and said he fired shots into an unoccupied vehicle. Dispatch notified deputies of the male being seen near Second street. While investigating this incident, Investigators were notified that the individual fired at three unoccupied vehicles and one occupied vehicle. The occupant of the vehicle was not injured.

At approximately 9:09 p.m., dispatch received a call in reference to a Carjacking at Fatty’s Pizza located at 396 Second Street. Witnesses said the suspect brandished a firearm, demanded the victim to get money out of the ATM before fleeing in her vehicle, a blue Honda Civic. Investigators were notified by the Criminal Intelligence Unit that the vehicle was last seen on Mercer University at Florence Avenue SB.

At 10:10 p.m., dispatch received a call an additional call for a commercial alarm at the Academy Sports located at 1689 Eisenhower Parkway. Patrol deputies arrived on scene and saw the blue Honda Civic backed into the front of the store. Deputies were able to verify that a male was inside of the building wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue pants, and blue shoes. The individual immediately barricaded himself inside of the store. Members of the SWAT team were able to remove the individual from the barricaded area.

The man was identified as 39-year-old Frankie Lee Fletcher Jr.

Fletcher faces charges of seven counts of aggravated assault, four counts of possession of firearm during commission of a felony, and four counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon, felony second degree burglary, theft by receiving stolen property, motor vehicle carjacking, and armed robbery.

Fletcher was also identified as the primary suspect in connection with the commercial burglaries of Kitchen Pride on Colombus Road and Krunch Munch on Montpelier Avenue.

This case is still currently under investigation. Additional charges are pending. Fletcher is currently being held without a bond.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man has been arrested for burglary on Sunday night, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a commercial alarm at 10:10 p.m. on December 8. Deputies confirmed a break-in at Academy Sports, located at 1689 Eisenhower Parkway.

Deputies identified the suspect as 39-year-old Frank Fletcher Jr.

According to the media release, Fletcher rammed a vehicle into the front door of Academy Sports while trying to gain entry.

Deputies verified Fletcher was in the building and had barricaded himself in the store.

Deputies and additional law enforcement were able to remove Fletcher from the store and a firearm was recovered.

Fletcher was transported to a local hospital for his injuries, but he refused treatment.

Fletcher faces charges of felony second degree burglary, theft by receiving stolen property, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
