UPDATE: Bibb deputies find 50 animals in an abandoned home

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Sheriff’s investigators signed warrants for 42 counts of cruelty to animals on 54-year-old Stephen Jones and 47-year-old Lisa Murray.

They being held in the Bibb County Jail on a previous criminal trespass charge.

No bond has been set.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies found 50 animals inside an abandoned home on Thursday.

The call came in around 1:00 this afternoon from a neighbor who said she was trying to feed the animals, but was concerned about their well-being.

Deputies say 47-year-old Lisa Murray and 54-year-old Stephen Jones were arrested two days ago for trespassing. They used to own the home, but it was in foreclosure and sold at the courthouse. The couple was squatting inside the home and another one. Deputies found them in the other home. They say now the couple is facing four additional charges each for felony animal cruelty.

Deputies are trying to figure out why so many animals were inside the home. They found 50 dogs, 30 cats, 2 turtles, a rabbit, bird, and a hamster.  Four of the animals were dead.  The investigation is on going.
