UPDATE: Backpack Left Behind in Macon Movie Theater Full of Clothes and Books, Causes Evacuation
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Movie goers were evacuated from AmStar 16 in Macon after a backpack was left inside a theater.
Lieutenant Sean DeFoe with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the backpack was full of childrens clothing and books.
Around 3:30 pm Sunday, DeFoe says an AmStar employee called 911 to report a backpack that was left on a seat. AmStar officials evacuated the entire building.
The Macon Police Department’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit was on the scene along with firefighters and Bibb County deputies.
Defoe says they treated the the backpack with caution. Around 5:30, law enforcement determined there was no threat to the building.
