ORIGINAL STORY:

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 1-year-old girl after an overnight fight between the child’s grandmother and father.

Deputies say they responded to a disturbance call at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday in the 3800 block of Flamingo Drive.

When they got there, they say they found a woman who had been beaten, along with her daughter, who had called 911. The grandmother told deputies the child’s father had left with her grandchild. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injures.

A BOLO was placed for the child’s father, a white vehicle and another person who was with him in the vehicle. At 3:03 a.m. deputies say they located the vehicle in the 2000 block of Old Clinton Road.

Deputies say the father, who has not been identified, was holding the unresponsive child.

Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced the child dead on the scene and said an autopsy will be conducted.

Two people of interest have been identified and were taken to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Headquarters.
