UPDATE: 17-year-old dead after shooting at block party in Hawkinsville

The shooting happened on  MLK Jr. Blvd at 1:15 a.m. on July 29.

(UPDATE 8/1) 17-year-old Levarius Ke’Shay Madrad Ates of Eastman died after a shooting at a block party in July, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

According to a news release, no arrests have been made. The investigation is active and ongoing.

HAWKINSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a shooting in Hawkinsville that left a 17-year-old from Eastman injured, according to a press release. The shooting happened on  MLK Jr. Blvd at 1:15 a.m. on July 29.

Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a 17-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. The teenager was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

Deputies say the shooting took place where there was a block party with an extremely large crowd.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
