United Way of Central Georgia hosts book fair for Jones County students

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Students at Wells Elementary in Jones County went home with a new book Thursday.

The United Way of Central Georgia hosted a book fair. The organization says the average student will lose up to a month of instruction during the summer break. United Way is encouraging students to read fun and entertaining books while they’re out of school.

Community sponsors donated the books. Each book was selected in partnership with the school systems and there is a corresponding computer test that evaluates reading comprehension.
