UPDATE: Woman hit, killed on Hawkinsville Road in Macon identified

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two drivers hit a woman Tuesday morning on the 6000 block of Hawkinsville Road in Macon.

Coroner Leon Jones says a woman in her 20’s was hit by two drivers near the Allen Road and Hawkinsville Road intersection around 6:17 a.m.

The woman was later identified as 29-year-old Amanda Burton from Ohio.

Jones says the drivers of a 1996 Dodge Dakota and a 2001 Ford Mustang both stopped and called 911 to help after the wreck.

51-year-old Samuel Callaway and 53-year-old John Elliot both hit the victim.

Both were traveling southbound.

Burton didn’t have any identification on her.

The body has been moved to a morgue. Jones notified the next of kin after he drew a blood sample.

The coroner adds this is the seventh fatality this year.
