U.S. Representative-Elect Rick Allen stops by Dublin to thank constituents
U.S. Representative-elect Rick Allen met with the breakfast crowd at a McDonald’s in Dublin. The republican businessman is visiting members of the 12th district to say thank you for putting him in office.
Last month, Allen beat longtime democratic Congressman John Barrow. Barrow has held the seat for a decade.
Allen says he’s bringing a great deal of his experience to the congressional seat.
“In business we know how to create jobs,” Allen said. “We know how to grow the economy and it’s a great privilege to be able to give someone the opportunity to take care of their family.”
Allen is from Augusta, but says his parents met in Dublin during World War II.
He credits his volunteers for helping him win the congressional seat. Allen says during his campaign, volunteers made more than 180,000 phone calls and knocked on more than 60,000 doors.
