U.S. Post Office working to get Christmas packages delivered on time
The lines were long at the Zebulon Post Office on Peake Road. But the lengthy lines did not stop the constant flow of people trying to mail their Christmas packages. They say they wanted to meet the deadline so their gifts arrive on or before Christmas day.
Macon U.S. Postmaster Tim Goodwin says they are doing whatever it takes to get the Christmas gifts to your front door.
“Every year we ramp up both on the retail side with our window staffing trying to get our customers through and get the packages mailed and then on our delivery side, we definitely have ramped up with seven day delivery and early parcel delivery,” Goodwin said.
Postal customers at the Zebulon branch were constantly coming and going on Tuesday. Despite the the long lines, some of them believe mailing their packages will be the last stress of the season.
