Georgia Military College Hosts Deshauna Barber for Leadership Speaker Series

Georgia Military College and NewDay USA are honored to welcome U.S. Army veteran, former Miss USA, and motivational speaker Deshauna Barber for the first NewDay USA Leadership Speaker Series event of 2025.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia Military College and NewDay USA will have U.S. Army veteran, former Miss USA, and motivational speaker Deshauna Barber for the first NewDay USA Leadership Speaker Series event of 2025.

Barber made history as the first Miss USA to serve while actively in the military, dedicating over 11 years as an Army Reserve officer. She has worked with organizations supporting service members and underserved communities, including the USO, Operation Homefront, and Smile Train.

In addition to her military service, Barber is a renowned leadership coach and author of Pretty Ugly Lessons, a book focused on resilience and personal growth. She continues to advocate for leadership, self-care, and empowerment.

The event will take place today at 2:30 PM at the NewDay USA Center of Leadership and is open to the public.
