Typical summertime forecast pattern continues
MACON, Georgia. (41NBC/WMGT)- Showers and storms will be widely scattered over the next couple of days.
TODAY.
Temperatures will climb back into the low and middle 90’s this afternoon under a partly sunny sky. When factoring in for the humidity it is going to feel like the triple digits at times. Make sure you are taking breaks and staying hydrated if you have plans to be outside. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will pop up after lunch and will continue through sunset. As with any summertime thunderstorm we could see heavy rain and gusty winds. Tonight, temperatures will fall into the low 70’s under a partly cloudy sky. Patchy dense fog is possible overnight and into early Wednesday morning.
TOMORROW.
We’re going to do it all over again Wednesday! Scattered showers and thunderstorms will become fairly widespread during the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures during the afternoon will hold steady in the low to middle 90’s while overnight lows will creep back up towards the middle 70’s.
EXTENDED FORECAST.
Afternoon showers and storms will be possible each and every afternoon, but our extended forecast is going to be dominated by tropical weather. As of 5 am on Tuesday, August 10, Potential Tropical Cyclone Six was moving westward through the Atlantic Ocean. This system is forecast to become Tropical Storm Fred later today. The current forecast track from the National Hurricane Center brings the storm into the eastern Gulf of Mexico by the back half of the weekend.
There are a lot of uncertainties with the potential intensity and forecast track with this storm. With a lack of low level circulation and eventual land interaction in the Caribbean, there are many factors that could weaken the storm.
Any impacts for Middle Georgia would come early next week. There is no immediate threat for our area, but it is something to keep an eye on. Stay tuned to 41NBC for the latest.
