Tykes, Tots, & Teens consignment event sees record 800 sellers in Perry
The seasonal consignment event features clothing, toys and baby gear from more than 800 local families.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Inside the McGill Building at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, aisles are packed with clothing, toys, books and baby gear. This season’s Tykes, Tots, & Teens consignment event features its largest number of sellers yet.
Laura Johns, founder of Tykes, Tots, & Teens, says participation has reached a new milestone.
“We have the most sellers we’ve ever had,” Johns said. “Just over 800 local moms and dads have participated this season as a seller, so they’re selling their kids’ gently used items, and then they keep a percentage of those sales.”
Johns says the event offers things for kids of all ages. She says the idea started from her own experience as a young mom trying to make ends meet.
“I started it actually for selfish reasons because when I was young,” Johns said. “I was 20 years old and pregnant. It was just a way to afford clothing for my daughter, and now it’s helping other parents the same way it helped me.”
Shoppers say the savings and the quality is what keeps them coming back. Valerie Musselwhite says this is her fourth time attending the consignment sale.
“There’s a lot of good deals, and even though everything’s secondhand, they make sure to keep the quality really well,” she said. “There’s just great prices on everything.”
The sale runs through Sunday, February 22, with special discount days toward the end of the sale. This season’s Tykes, Tots, & Teens consignment event officially opens to the public on Wednesday.
