Two west Macon bridges approved for upgrades

MACON, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) – Two west side Macon overpasses are closer to becoming safer for drivers.

Tuesday night, the Macon-Bibb Commission approved an agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for preliminary engineering to replace the Tucker Road Overpass at Interstate 475 and the Tucker Road Bridge over Rocky Creek.

Macon-Bibb’s Enginneering Department says the Tucker Road bridge is unsafe due to weight restrictions. And that’s causing school buses to sometimes reroute.

Preliminary work will cost about $300,000.
