Two teens arrested after car break-ins, chase in north Macon
Just after 2 a.m. on October 11, deputies were called to the Holiday Inn Macon North at 3953 River Place Drive after receiving reports of car alarms and two suspects seen entering vehicles.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two teens were arrested early Saturday after Bibb County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of vehicle break-ins at a north Macon hotel, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Just after 2 a.m. on October 11, deputies were called to the Holiday Inn Macon North at 3953 River Place Drive after receiving reports of car alarms and two suspects seen entering vehicles.
Deputies said the suspects fled in a blue sport utility vehicle. A patrol unit spotted the SUV on Riverside Drive and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, leading to a chase.
When the vehicle reached Napier Avenue near Brookdale Avenue, several occupants ran from the SUV. Two suspects were caught after a brief foot chase. Deputies recovered a firearm with an extended magazine and several vehicle key fobs. The SUV was reported stolen out of Warner Robins and was later recovered.
The suspects were identified as a 16-year-old juvenile and 17-year-old Jay’Shawn Lamar Smith, both of Macon. The juvenile was charged with theft by receiving stolen property and two counts of entering an automobile. He was released to his parents and is awaiting a court hearing.
Smith was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, two counts of entering an automobile, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and multiple traffic violations. He is being held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be filed.
