Two Middle Georgia Kids to Perform in Los Angeles at IPOP
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A couple of Middle Georgia kids are getting ready to make big career moves.
Katherine Hoffman, 16, and Tyler Brown, 8, auditioned for roles on Disney at the Armory Ballroom in August. Recently, the young thespians made the cut out of 400 other children to move on to perform in front of national and international judges at the International Presentation of Performers, or IPOP in Los Angeles.
The young actors say they hope this journey will one day lead them to Hollywood.
“We’re going in front of agents, and we were trying to see which agents would pick us to sponsor and find us jobs to be on TV, movies and commercials,” says Brown.
Brown is currently pursuing his dream of being a TV star by practicing daily, and watching his favorite shows for inspiration.
“I’ve really wanted to be on TV since I was real little. Since I got this opportunity, it’s been really good.”
Teenager Katherine Hoffman played several acting roles in school, and around her community. She believes earning a spot at IPOP will boost her acting career, and earn her more opportunities than she’s ever had before.
“I want to be a movie actress. I’ve always wanted to be in the movies, so I watch all my favorite movies over and over again, and like, see what they do,” Hoffman says.
According to Katherine’s mother, Melanie Hoffman, both children have signed with agents, but this venture will open the door for them to sign with international and national agents as well.
She adds after hearing the radio commercial for the first audition, she knew Katherine found her niche.
“Katherine’s always been a drama queen. She’s always had that drama flare,” Hoffman says.
Aileen Brown, Tyler’s mother says they too heard about the opportunity on the radio, and took a risk with no expectations.
“Tyler, he has always been persistent about whatever he wanted to be involved in.”
The actor and actress will perform for IPOP at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza on July 3rd -6th in Los Angeles.
Hoffman and Brown say the total trip cost is $10,000, and they need sponsors.
According to a release, if you would like to help sponsor Tyler you can do so at any State Bank location. All sponsorships should be made payable to the Tyler Brown IPOP Fund.
A Katherine Hofmann IPOP account has been set up c/o Melanie Hofmann at Robins Federal Credit Union.
