Two Mercer Seniors Fund Prep Program
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two college seniors are creating a major opportunity for one local high school.
Mercer students Taylor Feeney and Lyndssey Autry developed a test preparation program for students at Southwest High School who are interested in taking the SAT.
The two honor scholars organized the program, because they wanted to help students who could not afford tutorial fees, or prep books.
Ultimately, they took what would have cost the senior class a combined 40,000 dollars in pre-testing, one-on-one tutoring sessions and prep books-solicited sponsors and volunteers-which brought the program to a total of 1,600 dollars.
More than 30 students participated in the first prep session on Saturday.
There are three more sessions left for the month of September. If you would like more information, you are asked to call (478) 779-4500.
