Two men arrested for burglary and theft in Monroe County

The burglary happened at 11:24 a.m. on May 19 at a residence on Brownlee Road.

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two men were arrested for burglary and theft, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The burglary happened at 11:24 a.m. on May 19 at a residence on Brownlee Road.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they arrested 37-year-old Christopher Derek Stewart from Forsyth. Stewart was trying to steal metal.

After further investigating, another suspect was arrested. Deputies arrested 38-year-old Richard Lawson from Jackson on May 20 at 8:30 a.m.

Both Stewart and Lawson are charged with second-degree burglary, theft by taking and criminal trespass. Lawson also faces an additional charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Stewart and Lawson are being held at Monroe County Jail without bond.
